Syntax of Linked Servers when using Query designer
I have a SQL Server 2005 that has a Linked Server that is named by its IP
(i.e. [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]). When I try to use a fully qualifed name
(server.catalog.schema.table) in the Query Designer (like the "Configure" of
a SQLDataAdapter), the design pane hates the square brackets that are needed
to enclose the IP address of the server. It actually removes them. If I need
to use a SQL statement that uses an IP address to identify a Linked server,
should I just avoid the designers altogether or is there a way to keep the
designers from removing the square brackets?
