Best approach for downloading .zip files in dot net?
Hello,
We're in the process of porting an old VB5 application to dot net. This will
be a Windows app (not a web app). In the current application, when the user
elects to update their database, we download a zipped file, unzip it
programmatically, and use it to update a local database. In the past we've
encountered occasional difficulty with some firewalls, and are wondering
whether there's some preferred method for approaching this problem in the
dot net environment. We are constrained to use http or https, have no
control over the opening of firewall ports, and will presumably use some
kind of web service in the application. Since I just joined the project (and
was asked to research this issue) I don't have any more info at this point,
but if there are questions unanswered, I can find out. Any advice will be
greatly appreciated. Thanks.
