exe extensions changed to ex_
I recently installed Office Enterprise 2007 on my home laptop, under the Home
Use Program. Now, many of the little "extra" programs that I used to have
are not showing up on the Start menu. I'm talking about games like Hearts,
Minesweeper, Solitaire, etc., as well as useful things like Paint and
Calculator.

I searched my C: drive, and found that in the C:\I386 directory, all the
file extensions for those and many other programs had been changed from
".exe" to ".ex_". So it appears the programs still exist in that directory,
but have been disabled.

Did Office 2007 do this, and if so, why? If not, how could it have happened?

Either way, is it advisable to change them all back? I know how to do it
with MS-DOS commands, but I'm a little worried that there may be a good
reason these were disabled. I've searched the web, and can't find any
references to this specific problem.
